Types of papillomas

Each strain of HPV causes its own type of papilloma. They differ in external form and place of appearance. Have a low or high level of oncogenicity. Papilloma is a result of the HPV virus. Sometimes skin neoplasms appear on human skin in completely different places with some common symptoms. They have one common name - papilloma. They differ from each other in form, structure, location on the body, degree of oncogenic danger. Depending on these factors, papillomas have their own special name. What are papillomas and why do they appear?

What is a papilloma?

"Tumor in the form of a papilla", this is how the term papilloma is translated from Latin. This growth on the skin appears due to the HPV virus. Any papilloma is a benign neoplasm, however, depending on the strain (type) of the papillomavirus, they have an oncogenic risk.

Various papillomas according to oncogenic risk:

  1. Low oncogenic risk.
  2. High oncogenic risk.

The second group includes strains - 82, 73, 68, 59, 58, 56, 52, 51, 45, 39, 35, 33, 31, 18, 16. Growths on the skin can be completely different in color. The color scheme of papilloma can be from light to almost black. Sometimes elongated papillomas grow on the body, other types of HPV are flat or, on the contrary, too large, resembling a chicken comb.

Only a doctor can determine the nature of papillomavirus by conducting the necessary diagnostics:

  • visual examination of the patient;
  • take a test to identify the strain of the virus.

The virus enters the body in favorable conditions for it. You must be in contact with a virus carrier or with contaminated objects and your immunity must be weak.

Usually HPV is easily blocked by the immune system, there are several reasons why it fails:

  • long-term medication;
  • exacerbation of chronic diseases;
  • drug use;
  • excessive use of alcohol and cigarettes.

Any type of this disease requires timely treatment. Papillomas on the body have unpleasant characteristics to develop and sometimes turn into oncological diseases. Visiting a doctor is a necessary preventive measure.

Simple papilloma (abrasive)

This is the most common type of papilloma on the body. People call them warts, they appear gradually. First, small tubercles grow on the skin. Gradually, its diameter increases and changes color from pale flesh to a more saturated brown. The structure of papilloma vulgaris also changes, it becomes hard, keratinization appears.

vulgar papilloma

Papilloma vulgaris is more often located on:

  • Palm;
  • fingers;
  • the skin between the fingers
  • knee;
  • sometimes formed on the face, back, neck

Such neoplasms can occur in groups. First, the "mother's papilloma" appears, and after that, the growth of the daughter is formed.

Children and teenagers are especially vulnerable to this type of HPV. Vulgar papilloma is usually benign, it does not degenerate into an oncological formation. Strains 75-77, 26-29, 41, 38, 49, 57, 65 are responsible for the appearance of the neoplasm.

For simple types of viruses on the body including plantar warts. The name refers to the place of their appearance. The growth on the base grows singly, it can be identified by the characteristic protruding rim. Usually does not cause inconvenience, but sometimes it can interfere with walking. In order not to confuse corns and plantar warts, remember that corns have a smooth and flat surface where the skin pattern appears. Plantar warts are caused by strains 1-4.

Both of these and others are easily removed in a medical clinic. But do not rush to the doctor, such growths can disappear by themselves.

Flat papilloma

flat papilloma on the face

This growth is immediately different from other skin neoplasms.

It rises slightly above the skin, if you look closely, you can see that its surface, which looks dense, seems to consist of small nodules. Flat warts do not have a predetermined shape; it can be with jagged edges or, on the contrary, rounded.

Flat papilloma does not have a keratinization process (death and keratinization of skin cells), therefore, it does not have skin furrows that are characteristic of other types of papilloma.

The color of such a build is usually bright, sometimes it darkens and turns brown. Flat papilloma should not be dark brown.

location:

hand papilloma examination
  • dry bone;
  • weapons;
  • back;
  • on the face appears on the cheeks, around the eyes and on the chin.

Flat neoplasms are immediately visible to outsiders (if they are in the open). In addition to visual discomfort, they cause physical discomfort in the form of itching. When you try to scratch it, it starts to "burn".

Such formations should be shown to a dermatologist. You cannot prescribe the right treatment for yourself. The doctor must examine you, make a diagnosis and, taking into account all the physical characteristics, prescribe treatment. Such growths are easier to eliminate as soon as they appear. Old tumors need to be removed by operation. Flat papilloma causes virus types 49, 28, 10.

Pointed papilloma (wart)

They have a characteristic appearance, which allows them not to be confused with other types of papillomavirus. Outwardly, such papillomas can be compared to "cauliflower" or "rooster's comb". Condylomas attach to the skin and grow on short stalks. They are solitary and grow into large groups. Such HPV neoplasms in women can reach large sizes.

The color of the tumor varies depending on where it appears. Condyloma can be white, fleshy, pale pink, and have a color from light pink to maroon. Sometimes such growths secrete a foul-smelling liquid.

Genital warts are often injured because of a specific location.

The main localization of genital warts:

  1. Sex organs.
  2. anal area.
  3. crotch.
  4. Urethra.
  5. Vagina and cervix in women.

Such human papillomaviruses are only sexually transmitted. Its development gives rise to the virus 69, 55, 54, 51, 44, 42, 6, 1

If left untreated, pre-oncological conditions can develop. The virus accumulates in the tissue near the growth and changes the DNA composition of the epithelium and mucous membrane, which causes penile oncology in men and cervical cancer in women. Genital warts must be removed.

Filiform papilloma

They are also called acrochords. They grow mostly singly, but groups of acrochords are also found. If it is accidentally pulled out, a new process will reappear in its place, moreover, the growth can wander around the body, growing. They do not cause pain.

papilloma on the eyelids

There is more aesthetic rejection of the formation, especially if the papilloma has grown on the face. Colors range from flesh tones to brown. Acrochord is oval and elastic, sometimes there are keratin papillomas.

Favorite places for the appearance of body areas with smooth skin:

  • face (eyelid area, nose);
  • inguinal folds;
  • on the neck;
  • armpit;
  • under the breast (in women).

If acrochord appears on the face, scrubs and brushes should not be used so as not to injure it. Axillary growths are often injured by razor blades.

It is better to visit the doctor and remove the neoplasm in the clinic to avoid infection and degeneration of the disease into oncology. The latter rarely occurs with filiform papilloma.

pointed papilloma

The viruses that cause this type of HPV are strains 2 and 7. Acrochords are more common in older people because the skin loses its elasticity over time.

Sometimes this disease affects children and adolescents.

This is the most common form of HPV. According to the information about the type of virus, you can make a preliminary diagnosis independently. For a more accurate diagnosis, a medical examination is required.

In addition to this form of HPV, other types of papilloma also occur. For example, laryngeal papillomatosis, choroid papilloma (growing in the brain), papilloma in the stomach is called stomach papillitis. Internal papilloma is the most dangerous, sometimes patients go to the doctor with advanced levels of HPV. You can die from internal neoplasms. For example, a tumor in the larynx interferes with the breathing process and can cause asphyxia. Any HPV disease requires immediate medical treatment.
